Artist Statement

At my core is a love for people. My work is an extension of that love—an expression of the struggles, transformations, and histories that shape us. As a metal sculptor, I forge raw and found materials into forms that speak to resilience, liberation, and the passage of time. Metal is my primary medium—its strength, weight, and ability to be reshaped mirror the complexities of struggle and survival. I also integrate wood and blown glass, balancing hardness with fragility, structure with surrender.

My sculptures are deeply personal. They reflect the issues I am connected to, the weight of my past, and my unwavering respect for transformation and evolution. Activism is inseparable from my work. I engage with the realities of violence, grief, and injustice—particularly within Black and Brown communities—using sculpture as both a form of resistance and a space for healing. My pieces hold the weight of history while carving out space for growth, honoring the ancestors and movements that continue to shape us.

Rust fascinates me—the way it softens metal, marking it with time, decay, and rebirth. Blown glass, fragile yet resilient, speaks to the fleeting nature of change. Like the communities I work with, these materials endure pressure and force yet remain capable of beauty and reinvention.

Through my art, I bridge the tangible and intangible, creating work that holds space for reflection, power, and possibility. My sculptures are not just objects—they are testaments to survival, love, and the ongoing pursuit of freedom.
